HEM Hexagonal Incense Sticks – “Anti-Tobacco”

HEM “Anti-Tobacco” incense sticks in an orange hexagonal box about 25 cm long. A distinctive scent from India; one box.

An orange hexagonal box about 25 cm long holds HEM’s “Anti-Tobacco” incense. It shows warm spots of light and white wisps of smoke, and one side carries the Spanish name “Anti-Tabaco”. They are made in India. You get one box, without a holder.

What does the name mean?

The English name suggests that HEM meant it for use after smoking. We recommend it for its scent: incense adds a fragrance to the room but does not remove tobacco smoke. There is no exact list of its notes; what we know is that it is a distinctive scent you will notice clearly.

Air the room first, then light it

If someone smokes in your home, open a window for a quarter of an hour and only then light the stick. The scent comes through more clearly in fresh air. Don’t light it while someone is smoking, because the two kinds of smoke mix. It also suits a study, a reading corner or the terrace.

If you prefer softer scents, the White Musk or the Coconut in this series is gentler.

While it burns

Put the stick in a heat-resistant holder in a steady spot, away from anything that can catch fire. Light the tip, blow out the flame and let it smoulder slowly. Never leave it unattended. Before you leave the room or go to bed, press the glowing end into sand or a heat-resistant bowl.

On the terrace, look for a sheltered corner, because in a draught the tip burns faster and the scent drifts away. A plant saucer or small bowl filled with sand makes a good holder there: push the stick in, and the ash falls onto the sand.
