D minor Kurd: one of the best-loved tunings
The D minor tuning, also known as Kurd, is one of the most popular scales in the handpan world: around the base note it builds the tones A, A#, C, D, E, F, G, A and C. It is a warm, slightly wistful scale, equally suited to slow, restful playing and livelier, rhythmic music.

You can use the handpan as a percussion instrument or as a companion for meditation and therapy sessions. It is played on the lap with both hands, using soft finger strokes - no mallet is needed. You decide whether to bring it out for a quiet evening, a sound bath or making music with friends.
