A small angel-shaped pendant made with natural green aventurine. It measures about 2 × 1.5 cm, is 0.8 cm thick and weighs about 2 g. Made in India.
A green stone with a fine shimmer
Green aventurine owes its colour to tiny flakes of green mica scattered through the stone, and in good light they shimmer softly. As this is a natural stone, the colour and markings vary from piece to piece, so your pendant may look slightly different from the photos.
The name comes from the Italian “a ventura”, meaning “by chance”. Murano glassmakers used it for a sparkling glass they once made by accident, and the stone that resembles it was later named after that glass. Green aventurine is said to be a stone of good luck.
A guardian angel as a gift
In Christian tradition the angel stands for protection and care, and the Catholic calendar keeps 2 October as the feast of the Guardian Angels. It makes a lovely small gift for a christening, a name day, or someone starting a new job or moving to a new town. Being small and light, it can even be posted in an envelope with a card.
Small and light
At 2 cm, you can wear it unnoticed under your clothes, and you will hardly feel its 2 g. Thread it on a fine chain or a leather cord, even next to a pendant you already own.
Aventurine is a form of quartz, a hard stone, so it stands up well to everyday wear.
If the stone gets dirty, clean it with lukewarm water and a soft cloth. Keep perfume and creams off it, as they can leave a thin film on the surface.
