Green elephants and geometric shapes repeat across a cream background. The bed is 60 cm long and 50 cm wide, with padded sides 14 cm high, and weighs 0.96 kg. Its cover is polyester, the filling synthetic fibre, and it is made in China.
Red or green?
The two elephant beds share the same size, material and shape; only the colour differs. We suggest the red one if you want a bright splash of colour. Cream and green are calmer and go well with house plants, wooden floors and pale curtains. The pale cream background suits a bedroom too.
If you're buying it as a present for a friend with a pet and don't know their home, cream and green is the safer choice.
How much space does it need?
The 60 × 50 cm base fits at the foot of a bed, beside a chest of drawers or in a study. At under a kilo, you can move it aside with one hand when you clean. Its best place is a quiet, draught-free corner where you can see it.
It is made for cats and small dogs, and is big enough for a chihuahua or Yorkie-sized dog or an average cat. Even a puppy can clamber over the 14 cm sides. The padded edge runs all round but dips at the front, where your pet steps in; it can lean against the other sides.
It arrives flat
Because it is vacuum-packed, it looks flatter for the first few days. Shake it out, knead it and keep it somewhere warm. It gradually regains its shape and the creases smooth out.
If your pet just walks round it at first, don't force it. Put its favourite toy inside and give it a day or two to get used to the bed.
