Golden Mushroom – Small Carved Wooden Mushroom Group, Turquoise, 20 × 17 cm

Small hand-carved wooden mushroom group with turquoise stems and gilded caps, about 20 × 17 cm, in albasia wood.

The smallest Golden Mushroom is about 20 cm tall and 17 cm wide, and at only about 260 g it is the lightest of the three. Three carved wooden mushrooms stand on a dark, flat and wide base. The stems are painted turquoise with darker upright streaks of grain, and turquoise shows through the gold on the caps. Carved lines radiating across the tops of the caps recall a mushroom's gills.

The most colourful of the three

Turquoise is livelier than the natural and white versions. If your room already has a blue or green cushion, painted furniture or turquoise pottery, this colour will pick it up nicely. It also looks good on a windowsill next to a white plant pot or a cactus.

Turquoise and gold together recall old copper that has turned green with age, so it sits nicely beside a copper candlestick or a brass bowl.

Small enough for any corner

Small as it is, it fits on the corner of a desk, on a bedside table or in front of a row of books. As a small present, it suits anyone who loves mushroom picking or walks in the woods.

In a child's room it makes a sweet ornament too, but it is not a toy. The cap edges are thin and could break if it falls.

Made by hand from albasia wood

Carved by hand in Indonesia from albasia wood, it varies a little from piece to piece. The waves of the caps and the shade of turquoise may differ slightly from the photo, which is the sign of handwork. Dust it with a dry brush and keep it indoors. If you stand it with the large natural and medium white versions, put the turquoise one at the front, as it is the smallest.
