Three wooden mushrooms stand together on a shared dark base. It is about 32 cm tall and 25 cm wide and weighs about 590 g. The stems are dark brown with the wood grain clearly showing, and the wavy-edged caps are carved with fine radiating lines and gilded. Its base is flat and wide, so the three mushrooms stand steadily.
Hand-carved from albasia wood
The mushrooms were carved by hand in Indonesia from albasia, a light wood, so even this large group is easy to move around. Because each one is handmade, the curve of the caps and the thickness of the stems vary a little, and no two pieces are quite the same.
Where the natural version fits
Dark brown stems and gold caps go well with wooden furniture, wicker baskets and green houseplants. You could stand it on a sideboard or a low cabinet, and it is tall enough to sit beside a potted fern. In autumn, set it on the table among chestnuts, walnuts and pine cones.
Three sizes, three colours
The Golden Mushroom comes in three versions. This is the large natural one, alongside a medium white and a small turquoise. If you choose more than one, arrange them in steps, tallest at the back and smallest at the front, and you have a little woodland clearing on your chest of drawers.
For indoors
Rain and strong sun are hard on gilded wood, so keep the mushrooms indoors. Dust them with a soft brush or a dry cloth, never a wet one. When you move the group for cleaning, lift it by the base rather than the caps, as their edges are thinner.
