How do I know whether the cap fits my existing bottle?

The cap is designed for a 2.2 cm neck diameter and fits the RDBot-08, RDBot-09 and RDBot-10 bottle families. For other types of bottle, measure the outer neck diameter with a ruler: if it is exactly 2.2 cm, the cap is likely to fit; if it differs, it will not sit stably.

Can it replace an old, damaged cap on the same bottle?

Yes. That is one of the typical uses for this set: if the original cap is damaged, discoloured or lost, a new piece can be fitted to the compatible bottle in the same way, so the bottle remains usable.

Should the cap stay on the bottle during use?

While the diffuser is in active use, the reed sticks need to be in contact with the air through the bottle neck, so the cap normally rests beside the bottle. It is worth putting the cap back when the diffuser is not used for a longer period or when the bottle is being transported.
