A hand-carved Goddess statue in natural soapstone, standing about 12 cm tall. Soapstone is a silky-feeling natural stone with a warm sheen, and its carved surface keeps soft, sculptural contours – a simple yet expressive presence.
About soapstone
Soapstone (steatite) is a soft, easily carved natural rock with a characteristic smooth, soap-like feel. Its tone can range from lighter grey to deeper, dark and marbled surfaces; the veining and shade are part of the stone's natural variety. Because of this, every carving is a unique piece whose colour and pattern may differ slightly.
The Goddess motif
Mother-earth and goddess figures appear in the art of many cultures as symbols of life, care and fertility. The statue can become a favourite, earthy accent on a home altar, in a meditation corner or on a quiet shelf.
Care
Soapstone is relatively soft, so it is worth protecting from knocks and scratches. Dust with a soft, dry cloth; if needed, wipe gently with a slightly damp cloth.
