The deep blue of sodalite
Sodalite is a distinctive deep-blue mineral marked with white or grey veins and patches. On this small gemstone tree, the blue chips show interesting patterns where each tiny stone has its own marking. We recommend it to you because the deep blue creates a calm, slightly contemplative mood and looks lovely against white or light furniture.
The handcraft work
The trunk and branches are made of copper wire, hand-twisted into a tree shape by the makers. Small polished sodalite chips are glued to the branch tips. The solid base provides firm standing. As sodalite is a natural mineral, every piece shows its own pattern – the white veins are never positioned the same way.
Where it looks lovely
The deep blue shows beautifully on white, cream, or light wood shelves where the contrast comes through. You may place it in a reading nook, on a workdesk, or on a bedroom chest of drawers. As a gift it suits people who love blue tones or quiet, thoughtful-mood objects.
Size and weight
The tree is approximately 9-10 centimetres tall with a base around 4-5 centimetres wide. It weighs just a few dozen grams.
Upkeep
Wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth against dust. Avoid water and chemicals. Sodalite does not enjoy long, strong sunlight, so keep it in partial shade or indirect light to preserve the depth of the blue. Keep it away from strong heaters and humid rooms so the copper-wire surface does not become dull. When moving the piece, always hold it by the solid base, never the branches, so the small stone chips do not loosen. If one stone should come off, you can re-fix it carefully with a small drop of glue.
