Two hundred small polished amethysts sit on the branches of this tree. The branches are twisted from gold-coloured wire, with warm LED lights running between them. Under the glass dome the foot of the tree is covered in purple stone chips, and the dome rests on a round dark brown base. Made in India.
Purple stones on gold branches
Amethyst is the purple variety of quartz, and among these stones you will find deep purple pieces as well as lighter violet ones. In the evening, with the LEDs on, the contrast between the gold wire and the purple stones shows even more.
Amethyst is the birthstone for February, so the tree also makes a lovely birthday present. By tradition it is also the stone of meditation and clear thinking. If you like to sit quietly for a while in the evening, set the tree nearby and you can rest by its light instead of the big lamp.
Where a 24.5 cm tree fits
It stands 24.5 cm high, measures 16 cm across and weighs about 1.2 kg with the dome. It fits on a chest of drawers, the corner of a desk or a sideboard in the living room. Because the dome is closed, the stones stay free of dust and only the glass needs an occasional wipe. Carry it from below by the base, not by the glass knob on top of the dome.
Lit by a USB cable
The lights need a USB cable, and the socket is on the front of the base. No cable is included, so you will need one of your own. Strong direct sun can fade amethyst over time, so it is best not to place the tree in a sunny window.
Because the branches are bent by hand and the stones vary in colour, no two trees are ever quite alike.
