An obelisk is a polished stone in a tapering column ending in a pointed tip – a calm yet powerful shape that leads the eye upward. This piece is made of soft blue-green aquamarine, about 7–10 cm tall, in AA mineral quality.
About aquamarine
Aquamarine is the blue-green variety of beryl; its name comes from the Latin for 'sea water', and its translucent, soft colour truly calls clear water to mind. In tradition it is known as a stone of calm, clear communication and the passing on of knowledge – many regard it as a companion to speaking before an audience. These meanings belong to the stone's cultural story rather than to any medical effect.
The obelisk shape
The obelisk is an ancient, powerful shape, also called a 'column of light' and regarded as a symbol of renewal. Placed in a living room or study, the feng shui tradition holds it harmonises the space. Its pointed tip gathers attention to a single point.
Use
The obelisk is an elegant decorative object on its own – on a table, a shelf or a windowsill, where light shines through the stone. It is also a favourite piece in a meditation corner.
Good to know
This is a natural mineral, so size, colour and pattern vary from piece to piece and may differ from the picture; the size given is approximate. It can be wiped with a soft cloth.
