Smooth, tumbled garnet stones in deep, glowing red, in a larger assorted size – lovely as a palm stone, decoration or collector’s piece. A-quality pieces show a full, radiant colour.
The stone of garnet
Garnet is a hard group of silicate minerals formed deep within the earth under great pressure; its best-known deep-red variety is almandine, with a Mohs hardness of around 6.5–7.5. In crystal lore it is also called a stone of love and compassion: tradition holds that it strengthens and purifies, enlivens the imagination, and is regarded as a grounding, manifesting power stone.
The tumbled form and A quality
Tumbled stones gain their smooth surface through long polishing, which brings out garnet’s glowing red. Larger A-quality pieces show a radiant colour; as a natural stone, the shade can differ, and every piece is unique.
Ways to use it
Garnet is a favourite palm stone and meditation piece, and its deep, noble colour makes a meaningful gift. It looks lovely on a desk, in a crystal corner or cupped in the hand.
Care and good to know
It is a hard, durable stone, yet it is worth protecting from knocks and storing apart. Rinse under lukewarm water and pat dry with a soft cloth.
