A gift box made of pale cream cardboard. Assembled, it is 20 cm wide, 10 cm deep and 20 cm high. The two side panels lean towards each other at the top, where the handle is cut into the board. You get one box, made in China.
Cream for special occasions
Cream is softer than bright white and sits well with pastel ribbon, dried flowers or a scrap of lace. For wedding favours, christenings, graduations or Mother's Day, many people choose this shade.
If you are making small gifts for guests, a little candle, a bar of soap or a few home-baked biscuits can go inside. It stands on the table at each place setting, and guests can carry it home by the handle.
Because it narrows towards the top, flatter, lower items fit most easily. The cream box also comes in a larger 28 × 12.5 × 26 cm size for when you need more room.
How the box goes together
You get it opened out and flat. Lay it inside up, fold up both handle panels, open the side folds and line up the two handles. No glue is needed.
With many guests to make gifts for, fold one up first as a trial and see how much it holds. The rest can wait until the day before the celebration; until then they lie flat and stacked, taking up little room. Each box weighs 250 g.
The top does not lock, as the two side panels simply meet at the handle. If guests have far to go, a ribbon threaded through the handle holes holds it together.
