Clear quartz, the rock crystal
Clear quartz, or rock crystal, is the colourless, transparent variety of quartz (SiO2), with a Mohs hardness of about 7. Larger, clear spheres are especially striking, because the greater volume makes the internal refractions and veils more visible.
