Why choose the 5 centimetre size
The 5 centimetre crystal sphere gives a much stronger effect than its smaller 4 centimetre cousin. More sunlight passes through the larger cut surfaces at once, so the rainbow dots become sharper and more vivid. When you hang it in a larger window, you will see the dots reach further into the room, even two or three metres away, and the seven rainbow colours show up clearly.
Where we recommend it for you
The big window of a living room, the south facing glass wall of a dining area, or the window of a loft room are the best spots for it. It looks especially striking in a studio style space with a high ceiling, because the dots of light climb up to the ceiling as well. It also looks lovely in a workplace, in an office window, and many people say it gives a fresh lift to the hours spent there.
A short feng shui note
The Chinese teaching of feng shui, more than 3 000 years old, says that the currents of our surroundings shape how we feel inside a space. Cut crystals are recommended especially where there are stagnant, dead corners, because light gets the room moving. If you enjoy the mood of the tradition, this sphere is a natural choice for your home, but if you pick it for its looks alone, you will not be disappointed either.
The facts in detail
Diameter: 5 centimetres. Weight: 170 grams. Material: AAA quality cut glass crystal. A small metal loop on top for hanging. Packaging is plain protective cardboard. Country of origin: China. Because of the 170 gram weight, it is worth picking a slightly stronger cord or fishing line so it stays safely in place.
Maintenance and care
The larger surface gathers more dust, so this sphere is worth wiping at least once a month with a soft microfibre cloth. For heavier dirt, use a cloth dipped in lukewarm water and well wrung out, then dry it off. Abrasive cleaners, alcohol based cleaners and window sprays are NOT allowed, as they can dull the cut surface.
