A pack of 3 pouches. On each, two sheep stand side by side on a strip of green grass, a smaller one and a bigger one, both with pink noses and black legs. Their fleece is curly and raised, so you can feel it under your fingers, while their heads and legs are smooth felt. Each pouch measures about 21 cm wide, 12.5 cm high and 1.5 cm deep. They are made of wool felt with cotton linings, close with a zip at the top and have a felt ball on the pull. Handmade in Nepal.
Cream, charcoal or blue
The photos show three versions. On the cream background stand grey sheep; on the charcoal and the blue backgrounds the sheep are white. Which versions go into a pack, and how many of each, varies from pack to pack, and they can't be chosen individually. Of the three, the cream one is the lightest and shows dirt soonest.
A little pasture in your handbag
If you grew up in the countryside, or keep sheep today, you will be fond of this pouch. Use one as a purse, one as a make-up bag, and keep your charging cables together in the third. A bank card, keys and a glasses cloth fit inside one pouch too.
Wool from the sheep
The pouches themselves are made of wool felt, the very material sheep give us. To felt it, the wool is wetted with soapy water and rubbed until the fibres bind into a dense fabric. They make a good gift for someone who knits, crochets or felts, as their crochet hook, small scissors and stitch markers stay together in one.
If the curly fleece gets dusty
Brush dust off with a soft clothes brush and dab marks with a cloth dampened in lukewarm water. Don't machine wash them, as wool felt can shrink and the curly fleece can lose its shape.
