A landscape laptop case made of soft, slightly padded felt, about 34 cm wide and 25 cm tall. The top is cream and the lower half a muted olive green, and out of it peers a cat with big dark eyes, stitched whiskers, a downturned mouth and three red stripes on its forehead. A zip closes the top, with a cream felt ball on the pull. Made by hand in Nepal using traditional felting.
A cat that is not impressed
Its name is Grumpy Cat, and it earns it. It looks as if it were Monday morning and the third meeting of the day were about to start. Anyone who spends all day at a computer will get the joke.
If you, or the person you are buying for, love cats, this case will be welcome at university, in the office or on the desk at home.
For laptops up to 14 inches
It fits laptops up to about 14 inches, with a screen of roughly 35 cm measured diagonally. You lower the laptop in from the top, long side horizontal. Measure before you order: the longer side should be a few centimetres under 34 cm and the shorter side a few centimetres under 25 cm. If your laptop is bigger, this case will be too small.
When your laptop goes with you
The felt protects the laptop from scratches, scuffs and small knocks. You can carry it alone, and it is just as useful inside a backpack, where your keys can no longer reach the lid. It will not protect against a fall; you need a rigid case for that.
Each case is felted by hand. In traditional felting the fibres are wetted with soapy water and rubbed until they bind into a dense fabric. That is why the line between the two colours, the eyes and the stripes may differ slightly from the photo.
