Sound and character
The 3 cm felt-head mallet is our most versatile striker for soft, resonant instruments. The dense felt starts each note gently — no click, no hard attack — so monochords, slit / tongue drums and marimbas respond with a round, full voice. If you have been trying a hard beater so far, you will hear the difference at once: a felt head makes the instrument sing rather than strike.

Why this product
We offer this one as a single piece — order it if you have lost one of a pair or if you only ever play one-handed and don't need a second. It is made in the same workshop as the instruments, so hardness, head size and balance are perfectly matched to the Feeltone range.
Care tips
- Don't hit — let the mallet drop onto the instrument so its own weight does the work.
- If the felt flattens over the years, don't throw it away: the workshop can re-cover it.
- Safety: the larger the mallet, the greater its momentum — never strike a person or an animal with it.

Feeltone is a small, hand-craft workshop in Lassan, northern Germany, founded by Ingo Böhme. For more than two decades the team has been building monochords, sound beds, sound chairs and ceremonial drums for therapists, sound artists and meditation practitioners. Every instrument is handmade from sustainably sourced timber and finished with natural hard-wax oils.
