Felt coasters for singing bowls and similar
This Tibetan singing bowl is the classic Himalayan sound therapy instrument. A forged metal bowl that gives a long, deep resonant tone when struck or run around the rim with a felt-covered mallet.
Singing bowl tradition
Tibetan singing bowls are centuries-old hand-forged instruments. Blacksmith families of the Himalayas (Nepal, Tibet, Bhutan) have passed the forging technique through generations. Tradition holds seven metals in the alloy, corresponding to the seven planets.
How to use
Hold the bowl in your hand, or place on a felt or fabric ring — important that the surface below does not dampen the vibration. Strike the rim with the felted mallet — the tone sounds immediately. Or run the mallet around the rim slowly — the bowl begins to "sing", giving a sustained, melodic tone.
What it is good for
The singing bowl is good for opening meditation, group sound baths, or individual relaxation. Some therapists use the bowl placed on the body — vibration carries into the body and "massages" tissues.
