A pack of 6 small Christmas stockings made of felt. Each stocking is about 16 cm long, 10 cm wide and 2.5 cm deep. A cat or a dog peeks out of the top in a festive hat with a bow and a bell, and the stocking is decorated with colourful appliqué. They are handmade in Nepal, so each one is a little different.
Red or green, cat or dog
The photo shows red and green stockings with cats and dogs. Which designs go into a pack, and how many of each, varies from pack to pack, and they can't be chosen individually. Yours may differ from the photo. In the photo the appliqué includes a gift box, a star, a candy cane and a paw print.
A treat for your pet
If you share your home with a cat or a dog, put a few wrapped treats or a small toy inside and hang the stocking on a door handle or the Christmas tree. With 6 stockings there are enough for several pets, and some left for the animals of friends and neighbours. Write your pet's name on a small card and tuck it into the top. After the holidays, put them away and fill them again next December.
The stocking holds the present; it is not a toy for the animal. When you are not around, hang it where the cat or dog can't reach it.
Festive on a bag too
With its loop a stocking also goes on a bag handle or a backpack strap, so your bag can be Christmassy all through Advent. It makes a sweet gift for people without pets too, with a sweet or a little note tucked inside. With several people in the family, you can fill one for each. Brush off dust with a soft brush and keep them away from water, as felt can lose its shape.
