The stone of feldspar
Feldspars are the large, rock-forming group of aluminium silicates – the most abundant minerals in the earth’s crust. Their colour ranges from white through cream to pale tints, with a Mohs hardness of around 6–6.5. In crystal lore it is known as a stone of creative, unconventional solutions, and tradition holds that it helps find new ways toward goals and that it aligns and soothes.
The tumbled form and A quality
Tumbled stones gain their smooth surface through long polishing. A-quality pieces show a fine, even surface; as a natural mineral, the shade and pattern can differ, and every stone is unique.
Ways to use it
Feldspar is a favourite palm stone and meditation piece; its understated, natural tone suits a creative corner or a desk. It also looks lovely in a jar or crystal corner.
Care and good to know
Feldspar is moderately hard (Mohs around 6–6.5) and cleavable, so protect it from knocks and scratches and store it apart. Wipe it with a soft, barely damp cloth; long soaking is best avoided.
