Smooth, tumbled hawk's eye stones in a cool blue-grey with a silky, shifting glow. The little size is ideal as a pocket stone, for jewellery making or a mineral collection.
The stone of hawk's eye
Hawk's eye is the blue-grey relative of tiger eye: quartz that has kept the structure of the original fibrous mineral, which gives it a banded play of light (chatoyancy) – turn it and a luminous streak travels across the surface. Its Mohs hardness is around 7. In crystal lore it is known as a stone of clear sight and higher perspective, and tradition links it with keen seeing and calm observation.
The tumbled form
Tumbled stones gain their smooth surface through long polishing, which brings out hawk's eye’s silky shimmer. As a natural mineral, the shade and light play can differ, and every stone is unique. Pieces are approximately 0.5–0.8 cm.
Ways to use it
Their small size makes them versatile: carry them in a pocket, set them in a jar or crystal corner, or use them in jewellery making. Their cool blue-grey glow brings a composed, observant mood.
Care and good to know
This is a durable mineral, yet it is worth protecting from knocks and scratches. Wipe it with a soft, dry or barely damp cloth; long soaking is best avoided.
