Wide rings made of solid copper, decorated with a pattern cut into the surface. Each is about 2.5 cm across, with a band about 1 cm wide. At around 17 g, a ring has a weight you will notice on your finger. Made in India.
You get 6 rings in assorted patterns. The mix can vary from pack to pack, and patterns can’t be chosen individually. Sizes can’t be chosen either, and there may be slight differences between the rings. They suit men and women alike. Before giving one away, hold it next to a ring the person already wears to see whether it will fit.
A wide band with an engraved pattern
The 1 cm band leaves plenty of room for the pattern, which shows up against the reddish copper even from a distance. As the ring darkens over time, the engraved lines look sharper and sharper.
Copper is a soft metal. If the ring gets slightly bent out of shape by a hard squeeze, slip it onto a cylindrical wooden handle and gently press it back into a circle.
Where the green mark comes from
Copper reacts with air and moisture on the skin to form a greenish compound. The same process turned the Statue of Liberty green, as its outer skin is made of copper sheets. Any mark on your finger washes off with soap and water.
If it bothers you, paint a thin layer of clear nail polish inside the ring. This keeps the copper off your skin for a while. Take the ring off before washing your hands or the dishes, and always before cleaning, as household cleaners and chlorinated water quickly stain copper.
Polishing with lemon
Many people like the darker, aged copper tone. If you prefer it bright, sprinkle a little salt on half a lemon and rub the ring with it. Then rinse and dry. If the engraved lines stay dark, that is fine, as the pattern shows better that way.
