Earl Grey Tea 50g

Chinese black tea with bergamot aroma and mallow petals. The classic British morning and afternoon choice — fresh, lively, timelessly elegant in the cup.

Earl Grey Tea 50g

Earl Grey is a tea that is a cultural institution in its own right. Originally created around 180 years ago for Prime Minister Charles Grey, it has since become one of England's most beloved teas — spreading worldwide as the emblem of elegant afternoon tea rituals. In the Természetkosár version, we have combined carefully selected black tea leaves with fine mallow petals and the vibrant aroma of bergamot, so that every cup evokes timeless elegance.

Flavour profile

The first scent to greet you is the iconic bergamot (a citrus fruit that sits somewhere between orange and lemon — most commonly from Italy) with its fresh, gently floral-citrus aroma. This is what lifts Earl Grey above ordinary black teas. In the cup, the black tea delivers a warm, caramel-malty base that the exceptional liveliness of bergamot turns sparkling. Mallow petals contribute a delicate floral softness and decorate the brew with graceful blue-purple flecks.

What it is for

A classic morning and afternoon tea. It beautifully awakens thinking ahead of long meetings and provides a lift at three in the afternoon when energy dips. Invigorating yet not forceful — it is like a well-tailored classic suit, at home in almost any situation. It works with milk, cream or lemon alike; the traditional English way adds a little milk or a slice of lemon. Also a splendid choice for receiving guests or for brunch.

Preparation

Place 2 to 3 grams of tea (one heaped teaspoon) in 200 ml of water. Boil the water and let it cool to 90-95 degrees Celsius. Steep for 3 to 4 minutes — it is IMPORTANT not to go much longer, as black tea tends to become bitter with extended steeping. Add milk, cream, plant-based drink (oat, almond) or a slice of lemon to taste. Sugar, honey or sweetener is optional. For the finest experience, prepare it in a teapot or a porcelain pot.

Ingredients

Black tea, mallow, aroma (bergamot). A clean, simple composition that reflects the perfection of classic English tradition. The black tea leaves come from China, while the bergamot aroma evokes the fragrance of fruit from Calabria in southern Italy. The mallow petals are primarily decorative, but also contribute a delicate floral tone to the brew.

Who we recommend it to

For lovers of classic teas, admirers of British culture, and anyone who enjoys a reliable, elegant flavour experience. An excellent office tea, or a gift for a mother, mother-in-law or teacher — essentially anyone who appreciates tradition and balanced character. We recommend it confidently to beginner tea drinkers too, as Earl Grey is generally an accessible and well-loved entry into the world of classic teas. Indispensable for book clubs and literary evenings.

Storage

Store in a cool, dry place away from light, in an airtight container. The volatile oils of bergamot are sensitive — protect it especially from direct sunlight and nearby strong scents (such as spice blends or coffee). Once opened, enjoy within 6 to 8 months for the fullest aroma. Transferred to a nice metal tea caddy it can keep for years, though the aroma is brightest in the first six months.
