Dubai Truffle soap comes as a single 1.3 kg loaf. The loaf is 24 cm long, 8 cm wide and 6 cm high, and the maker has already cut it into 13 slices. Each slice weighs about 100 grams and is roughly 2 cm thick, the size of an ordinary bar of hand soap. It is handmade soap, made in the United Kingdom.
Deep brown with a green top
The soap is deep brown, with a greenish layer running along the top. So every slice has two colours, dark brown below and green above. It stands out against pale tiles and a white basin, and if you have a dark wood or stone vanity top, it suits that too. The maker gives no scent notes.
Use it one slice at a time
There's no cutting to do; simply take the slices off the loaf one by one. Keep one slice out by the basin and the rest somewhere dry and airy. That way the same soap can sit in the bathroom, by the kitchen sink and in the guest cloakroom.
You can keep the next few slices in a small basket or on a tray beside the basin. They are all roughly the same size, so they line up neatly side by side.
A slice to give away
Wrap a slice in paper, tie it with string, and it becomes a small present, say for a neighbour before Christmas. A slice or two also fits nicely into a Christmas hamper next to a towel and a candle.
If you would like a different colour, the Razzle Dazzle and Pink Charlotte soaps in the same series come in the same kind of loaf. Brown, red and peachy pink slices look good together in one dish.
