A softly contoured (tumbled), drilled fluorite pendant. Fluorite is one of nature's most striking, many-coloured minerals, even a single stone can shift between purple, green, blue and clear bands. The pendant comes without a cord, so it strings freely on a leather thong or a chain.
Fluorite, the fact
Fluorite is calcium fluoride (CaF₂); its hardness is Mohs 4, softer than quartz, so it is worth protecting. In its pure form it is colourless, and the characteristic purple, green, yellow and blue shades come from embedded trace elements. The phenomenon of "fluorescence" is even named after it, as many fluorites glow under ultraviolet light.
Meaning in tradition
In the crystal tradition fluorite is known as a stone of order, focus and clear thinking; many link it to study, concentration and a calm mind, all of which is tradition, not medical fact. For its wealth of colour it is prized by collectors and crystal lovers alike.
Wearing and care
The pendant is about 2.5-3.5 cm. As fluorite is relatively soft, protect it from hard knocks and scratches; clean it with a soft cloth. As a natural mineral, its colour and shape are unique to each piece.
