Amethyst in brief
Amethyst is the violet variety of quartz, coloured by iron and natural irradiation; its hardness is around Mohs 7. In the crystal tradition it is known as a stone of calm and clarity, this is tradition, not medical fact.
Care
Rinse the stone under running water. Note: amethyst does not like prolonged, strong sunlight, which fades its colour over time, it keeps its shade best in a shaded spot. As a natural mineral, its shape and colour are unique.
