This dreamcatcher strings together decorative moon and sun charms, shimmering details and tumbled amethyst stones in a handmade composition of about 16 × 50 cm. Its violet accent and celestial motifs bring an intimate, dreamy mood to a bedroom.
The dreamcatcher tradition
The traditions of the Indigenous peoples of North America hold that the night air is full of dreams – gentle ones and troubling ones alike. A dreamcatcher hung above or beside the place of sleep is believed to filter them: good dreams slip through the web and glide down the feathers to the sleeper, while bad ones catch in the threads and fade by dawn. This is a respectfully kept tradition.
Amethyst – within tradition
Amethyst is the violet variety of quartz, coloured by iron and natural irradiation. The tumbled (smoothly rounded) stones have a pleasant, smooth surface. Tradition regards it as a stone of calm and meditation, a companion to soothing.
Sun and moon motif
The moon and sun on the charms are much-loved symbols of cycles, change and celestial rhythm. Together with the shimmering details they give a playful yet calm overall feel.
