Olibanum, better known as frankincense, is one of the most ancient incense scents – warm, resinous, faintly citrusy, with a temple-like depth. This bamboo-free, solid dhoop form is all fragrance, so the smoke is fuller and the character cleaner.
The scent of frankincense
Frankincense comes from the resin of Boswellia trees and has been a cornerstone of sacred incense for millennia. Its aroma is warm, balsamic and slightly woody-citrus. In tradition it is associated with cleansing a space and quietening the mind, as a devotional mood accompaniment.
Bamboo-free dhoop
Dhoop sticks are not built around a bamboo core but shaped entirely from the fragrant paste. This removes the smell of burning bamboo and lets the scent itself come through more clearly. Ingredients: olibanum (frankincense) gum, a plant-based binder and charcoal powder. Each stick is about 7.5 cm long.
How to use
Light the tip of the stick, blow out the flame after a few seconds, and place it in the holder provided. Each box contains 10 sticks and one holder. It burns best in a draught-free, heat-proof spot.
