Wider slide-top aluminium tin with 20 g capacity
This 7 x 4.2 x 1.5 cm aluminium tin is the widest and deepest of the three sizes. Its larger inside volume holds approximately 20 grams of cream, balm, or salve — roughly two thirds of a larger jar of face cream, or about a week's supply of herbal balm.
Who finds it most useful?
Many people use it to store homemade herbal balm, wound salve, or moisturising hand cream. The firmer grip makes it easier to open with slightly rougher fingertips — for instance after garden work. At home it sits well on the bathroom shelf, the desk, or the bedside cabinet.
How does it differ from the smaller sizes?
- Wider grip — easier to lift the lid
- Deeper (1.5 cm) — thicker, denser cream fits inside
- Holds more — 20 grams, about a month of hand salve
- The lid has a larger surface — better suited to a clear label
How to fill it
Use a spoon or spatula to portion warm, melted balm into the tin, leaving roughly 2 mm of free space below the lid. Wait until it fully solidifies before sliding the lid closed — if the contents are too warm, condensation may form inside the lid.
Cleaning
It rinses with lukewarm water and a little dish soap. Once dry it can be refilled, since aluminium does not rust. For cosmetic use, wiping the inside with alcohol before refilling is helpful.
Things to keep in mind
Long-term storage of strongly acidic (lemon-based) or alkaline (soda-based) contents is not ideal, as the aluminium surface may react with them. It is safe for neutral creams, balms, and waxes.
