The B-tone and the purple lotus
The 7th chakra, Sahasrara, is traditionally connected to the crown of the head, to a calm awareness and to quiet contemplation. The corresponding B-tone produces a fine, airy vibration that surrounds the space with a rare clarity of presence. The 20 centimetre bowl is made of pure quartz powder, with a 432 Hz fundamental frequency, and a purple lotus motif on the outside accompanies the sound.
Package and accessories
The 1530 gram bowl comes with a mallet and a rubber stability ring. The rubber ring holds the bowl steady on a smooth table or carpet and helps to bring out its most beautiful, longest sustaining sound. With different mallet materials – rubber, leather or felt – you can draw various tone colours from the same bowl.
How to use it in daily life
Many people sound the B-tone bowl as the closing of a longer meditation, when the thoughts have already quieted and only a fine presence remains. Others use it as a companion to prayer, quiet reflection or the working through of a more difficult life situation. If you sound it only rarely and would rather keep it as a decoration of a special occasion, the bowl looks beautiful in the centre of a meditation corner, in soft light.
Playing and handling
Lead the mallet around the outer edge with circular, even movements, slowly and with gentle pressure at first. As the sound builds, you may gently speed up, but the pressure should always remain kind. A difference of a few hertz from the stated pitch is completely normal. Never use a wooden mallet on a crystal bowl, as it may damage the surface.
Safety, storage, care
Never place anyone's head over the bowl, and do not strike it too loudly directly next to another person's ear. When using several bowls together, leave a comfortable distance between them. After use, wipe the bowl with a soft, dry cloth and store it in a dry, dust-free place, away from direct sunlight.
