The A-tone and the indigo lotus
The 6th chakra, Ajna, is traditionally connected to the centre of the forehead, to inner attention and to clear seeing. The corresponding A-tone produces a clear, higher vibration that lifts upwards and gives a cleansing feeling. The 20 centimetre bowl is made of pure quartz powder, with a 432 Hz fundamental frequency, and an indigo lotus motif on the outside accompanies the sound.
Package and accessories
The 1530 gram bowl comes with a mallet and a rubber stability ring. The rubber ring holds the bowl steady on a smooth table or carpet and helps to bring out its most beautiful, longest sustaining sound. With different mallet materials – rubber, leather or felt – you can draw various tone colours from the same bowl.
How to use it in daily life
Many people sound the A-tone bowl when they want to focus before a task, or when they want to calm the swirling thoughts in their head before an important decision. The higher vibration has a cleansing effect, and many people experience that after a few minutes of listening a situation becomes more transparent. It also works beautifully as a ritual before studying, reading or reflection.
Playing and handling
Lead the mallet around the outer edge with circular, even movements, slowly and with gentle pressure at first. As the sound builds, you may gently speed up, but the pressure should always remain kind. A difference of a few hertz from the stated pitch is completely normal. Never use a wooden mallet on a crystal bowl, as it may damage the surface.
Safety, storage, care
Never place anyone's head over the bowl, and do not strike it too loudly directly next to another person's ear. When using several bowls together, leave a comfortable distance between them. After use, wipe the bowl with a soft, dry cloth and store it in a dry, dust-free place, away from direct sunlight.
