Blue cornflower (Centaurea cyanus) is the classic Hungarian field flower. Primarily a grateful cut flower, but also beautiful as a colour patch. On long, stiff stems bears distinctive cup-shaped flowers.
Growing
Sow in March–April. Row and plant spacing 20 cm, sowing depth 1 cm.
Cut flower for bouquets, field flower border, bee pasture. Companion of ancient Hungarian wheat fields.
