Copper Cup – 7 Chakra Symbols, 350 ml

Pure-copper cup with the seven chakra symbols, 350 ml. In Ayurvedic tradition, water drunk from copper has long been valued — a decorative, warm-toned

Copper drinking vessels have a tradition of more than two thousand years in India. This 350 ml cup is made from pure copper and is decorated with the seven chakra symbols.

The Ayurvedic tradition

According to Ayurveda, the ancient science of India, water stored in a copper vessel is said to support the balance of the three principles — the doshas (vata, kapha and pitta) — within the body. This is understood within experiential tradition, not as a medical promise; many simply choose it for the pleasure of drinking pure water from a copper vessel. Copper has accompanied everyday drinking in India for thousands of years, and many still favour it today for its warm glow and the simple pleasure of a familiar, natural material.

The seven chakras

In the yoga and meditation tradition the chakras are an ancient system symbolising the body's energy centres, from root to crown. Tradition often associates them with bija mantras, sound vibrations linked to each centre. On the cup the seven symbols appear as a decorative, evocative motif.

Use & care

Intended for cold water. Copper naturally develops a patina over time; its original shine can be restored by rubbing with a little lemon and salt, then rinsing with clean water. Hand washing is recommended.

Recommended for cold water only; a durable, reusable piece that brings the warm glow of copper and the chakra motif to a space.
