The sound of the sea in a drum
Inside the coast drum - also known as an ocean drum, sea drum or wave drum - small glass and steel balls roll freely. Move the drum slowly in circles and the balls travel across the head, producing the unmistakable murmur of waves - as if you were standing on the shore. Strike it with your hand or a soft mallet and it plays as a classic frame drum too.
Lightweight build, adjustable intensity
This light, pre-tuned version weighs only about 720 grams, so you can hold it comfortably through long sessions - remarkable for an instrument 50 cm across. Its special feature is the side screw: through it the quantity of balls can be reduced, letting you set how strong the wave sound should be - from the faintest whisper to a rolling surge.
Goatskin and beech, a freely vibrating head
The head is natural goatskin and the frame is made of seven layers of beech wood. The balls sit between the skin and a mesh layer, so the head can vibrate freely - which is why the drum sounds open and lively. Made in Germany with thoughtful, durable workmanship.
Who is it for?
Leaders of sound baths and relaxation sessions who work with natural sounds; anyone who enjoys listening to the sea before sleep or while resting; and frame drum players looking for two voices in one instrument. Dimensions: Ø 50 × 6 cm.
