Citrine is the yellow-to-golden variety of quartz; these tumbled stones are made from heat-treated amethyst, which takes on its warm golden-orange tone through heat – a common, well-established practice in the trade. Its Mohs hardness is around 7. In crystal lore it is known as a stone of light, cheer and optimism, and tradition links it with good spirits, courage and openness to new possibilities.
The tumbled form
Tumbled stones gain their smooth, rounded surface through long polishing, which makes them sit pleasantly in the palm – a favourite as a pocket stone and meditation piece. This selection is mixed A/B quality: as a natural mineral, each piece can differ in shade, pattern and clarity, and every stone is unique. Pieces typically range between 0.5 and 2.5 cm.
