Old-times atmosphere in your home
This is a small cast iron decorative cauldron with the different phases of the moon (new moon, crescent, full moon) shown in relief on the side. It stands on three small legs, so it sits stably on a shelf or table, and is closed from above with a metal lid that has a handle. You also receive a separate strainer insert that fits inside and helps separate the contents (for example dried herbs from glowing incense charcoal).
How you can use it
The most common use is as an incense holder: a small piece of glowing charcoal goes onto the strainer, and dried resin or granulated incense on top. This is more stable than a flat tray, and once the lid is closed the smoke is released more slowly. You can also use it to store dry tea-spice blends, as a tealight holder on the table, or simply as decoration on the bookshelf. It is particularly popular around Halloween.
Size and weight
The cauldron is a small tabletop version that fits in the hand. Because of the cast iron the weight is noticeable but not heavy. It fits comfortably in an adult's palm. The strainer insert sits loosely inside and is easy to remove for cleaning.
Cleaning and care
After use let it cool down, then brush out the ember and ash with a soft brush. Washing with water is not recommended, as the cast iron surface can rust. If it gets wet, dry it immediately, and from time to time wipe the surface with a thin layer of cooking oil to preserve the natural patina.
How to choose between the three patterns
The moon phases version is especially recommended for those who love the atmosphere of nature at night. Its Tree of Life and Flower of Life patterned siblings (separate products) are more suited to those who prefer botanical and geometric symbols. The three look beautiful together, but each also stands on its own.
