Carved Balance Wine Stand — Bunny figure
This bunny-shaped balance wine stand is both a small sculpture and a working wine holder. It uses a simple physical principle: the rounded back of the carved rabbit acts as a counterweight to the weight of the bottle that slides into its angled hole. Once you let the bottle go, it appears to float in mid-air, gently supported by the figure. Guests almost always pause at the sight before picking up their glass.
Hand-carved, one-of-a-kind pieces
Each stand is shaped by hand in Indonesian workshops, made from a single piece of wood. Because of this, every example is slightly different: the shape of the bunny's ears, the curve of its back and the natural grain pattern will not repeat exactly. These small variations are a feature, not a fault. The wood shows warm honey-beige tones, finished with a natural wax or oil treatment.
How to use it
Place the stand on a flat, stable surface — not on a wobbly tray or a shelf with a narrow lip. Use a standard 0.7–0.75 litre wine bottle. Slide the bottle neck into the opening, tilt slightly and release it: the stand finds its balance within a few seconds. For sparkling wines or unusually shaped bottles (for example 1 litre square-based ones), handle with extra care, as the different weight distribution can affect stability.
