Carved Balance Wine Stand — Frog figure
The frog-shaped balance wine stand is one of the most cheerful pieces in the carved balance family. The squat crouching frog acts as a natural counterweight: the carvers shape its rear mass precisely so that it balances the full weight of a wine bottle. When you place the bottle, after a second or two the system settles and the frog appears to hold the bottle in its lap — a sight that makes guests take a second look at the table.
Symbolism and hosting
The frog is, in several cultures, a symbol of change, renewal, rain as a blessing and a benevolent household spirit. Placing one on the table adds a subtle cultural layer to wine-holding.
