Thanks to its water-flower character, it shows beautifully in a bathroom, where the humid environment complements the scent. It is also a good bedroom choice if you like fresh, floral, non-syrupy fragrances. For a living room, we recommend it if you have a minimalist, modern interior and want a pleasant scent backdrop. In a kitchen, next to strong cooking smells, we recommend it less, as the two scents may blend confusingly.
Handling the reeds for an even scent
The rattan reeds draw up the oil by capillary action and release it from their upper end. Use 5-8 reeds in the bottle. Every 4-7 days, flip them: the end that was in the oil now points to the air. This keeps the fragrance at a steady, comfortable intensity. If after a week the oil level hardly changes, gently tilt the bottle so the reeds soak up more.
What to be careful with around the oil and reeds
The fragrance oil contains natural and synthetic perfume ingredients, which may irritate skin and cause stomach trouble if swallowed. Keep the bottle out of reach of children and pets. If oil gets on your fingers, wash with warm water and soap. Avoid moving the reeds from one room to another — a saturated reed can leave a stain on furniture.
Reusing the bottle once the scent is gone
When the oil has dropped to about a quarter of its original level, usually after 6-8 weeks, and the scent is barely noticeable, it is time to replace the diffuser. The empty bottle can keep serving you as a small vase, a spice container or a tiny desk organiser. Wash it thoroughly in warm soapy water. The reeds can also be reused — as decorative elements in dried bouquets or as quiet scent pieces in a wardrobe.
