A round dish made of mango wood, 10 cm across and 2.5 cm high. Its inner bowl has a glossy lacquer finish and a dark blue rim with tiny gold dots. In the white centre is a gold goat's head with long, swept-back horns. A small hole on its forehead holds an incense stick. Around it runs a ring of constellations. The grain is different on every piece, while the goat drawing is the same. Made in India; you receive one dish.
The sign of the sea-goat
On old star maps Capricorn is a goat at the front and a fish at the back, the creature known as the sea-goat. This dish shows only the goat's head. The sign begins at the winter solstice and runs roughly from 22 December to 19 January. It is an earth sign, linked by astrology to Saturn.
Capricorns are said to be persistent and responsible. They plan for the long term and finish what they start.
For incense and the dressing table
For incense, push a stick into the hole. Don't leave it burning unattended, set the dish on a heat-proof surface and air the room afterwards. Incense sticks are not included.
If you don't burn incense, your rings and earrings will have a good place on the dressing table.
When the birthday falls in the holidays
Capricorns celebrate in late December and the first half of January, many of them during the holidays, when a birthday easily gets lost among the Christmas and New Year preparations. With this dish you can give them something of their own, marked with their sign, even in January. It comes in all twelve signs if there are other birthdays in the family.
