The wick trimmer
The trimmer is shaped to rest on the lip of a candle holder or candle glass, so even a wick deep in a tall glass can be cut with ease. Trimming away the charred, mushroom-shaped tip ensures a fresh, even burn. It can be done at any time, even while the candle is lit – in which case it will usually need relighting.
The wick dipper
The dipper is a thin metal rod with a small hook at the end. By pressing the burning wick into the melted wax it puts out the flame with very little smoke. The wick can then be lifted back up, coated in a thin layer of wax that eases the next lighting and protects the wick.
