A round mango wood dish, 10 cm across and 2.5 cm high. The inner bowl has a glossy lacquer finish, with gold dots running around its dark blue rim. In the white centre you see a crab drawn in gold lines, with a crescent moon above it. A small hole in the middle of the crab's shell holds an incense stick. A ring of constellations surrounds the drawing. The mango wood grain differs from piece to piece; the drawing is the same on each. Made in India; you receive one dish.
The sign of the Moon
In astrology the ruling body of Cancer is the Moon, and on this dish a crescent sits above the crab. It is a water sign, running roughly from 22 June to 22 July, at the very start of summer.
Tradition says people born under Cancer are caring, and home and family mean a great deal to them. They remember old stories and like to keep small things that matter to them.
A home for keepsakes
A ring, a pendant or a pair of earrings handed down from a grandmother all have a safe place in this dish, and a few coiled bead bracelets fit too. On a bedroom chest of drawers you will see the drawing every day.
For incense, push the stick into the hole. Don't leave it burning unattended, stand it on a heat-proof surface and air the room afterwards. Incense sticks are not included.
For an early summer birthday
Someone in the family celebrating in late June or July may well be a Cancer. They will receive their own sign on this dish, and if they enjoy incense, you can add a box. The dish comes in all twelve signs, so you can choose for the rest of the family as well.
