California Wonder red pepper is the partner of the yellow variety, only this one ripens to red. Indeterminate, long-season, large-bodied, thick-fleshed blocky fruits. The dark green fruits ripen to a beautiful red — not only visually striking but sweeter in flavour and higher in vitamin C.
Growing
Sow in February into seed trays. Transplant in late May to a warm, sunny spot. Row spacing 50 cm, plant spacing 40 cm. Nutrient- and water-demanding — generous feeding and watering support the development.
Fruits ripen red in August–September. Uses: roasted pepper, stuffed pepper, fresh salad, sandwiches, grilled — the sweeter ripe-red flavour is exceptional.
