How to approach the opening
Wrap each geode in a soft cloth, wear safety glasses and sturdy gloves. Start with moderate taps from a small hammer on a hard surface. Children should only take part under adult supervision. If you feel unsure, it is worth asking an experienced adult for help with the first piece.
What you typically find inside
Inside calcite geodes you may find milky white, pale yellow, or sometimes amber crystals. Due to the larger size, the crystals tend to be bigger and more striking than in the smaller packs – but as these are natural minerals, there is no guarantee.
How to keep the opened pieces beautifully
The opened geodes look lovely in a glass display case, on a section of a bookshelf, or on a small mineral tray. The crystals are sensitive to dust and humid air, so please avoid a damp bathroom spot. From time to time, you can dust them gently with a soft brush.
