Few things are as rewarding as playing an instrument you built with your own hands. This cajon construction kit, made in Germany, contains everything you need: precisely prefabricated parts, quick-drying express glue, tensioning belts and assembly instructions in five languages (DE, EN, FR, IT, ES). The finished instrument is a box drum of approx. 30 x 30 x 45 cm that you sit on and play with your palms.
About 90 minutes and your cajon is ready
The parts fit together so precisely that no special DIY experience is needed. With the included glue and tensioning belts, the whole build takes roughly an hour and a half. The kit is suitable for children as well, so it makes a wonderful shared project with kids, grandchildren or a school music class.
Birch playing surface with a snare element
The playing surface is made of birch, the resonance box of plywood. Inside sits a snare element with 20 spirals - this gives the cajon its typical crisp response: strike the centre for a deep bass tone, the edges for a snappy slap.

The kit arrives flat-packed in a box of 52 x 32.5 x 8 cm, weighing 5.4 kg. If you are new to the cajon, building it yourself also helps you understand how the instrument works - which will help your playing too.
