Cajon Cabasa

Compact cabasa that attaches to any cajon with a Velcro fastener. Suitable for continuous, shuffling rhythm patterns as well as short accents.

A new sound colour on your cajon — with a single motion

The cajon cabasa is a small yet remarkably effective accessory: a shuffling, friction-sound rhythm instrument that you can mount directly on your cajon. This way you can play it with a hand movement while seated, without a separate stand or a second hand to hold it. Alongside the basic cajon strokes it adds a pulsing, continuous accompaniment that instantly makes the sound fuller and more danceable.

Simple mounting with a Velcro fastener

Attachment is done with a Velcro fastener, so the cabasa fits any cajon and can be removed in seconds. Place it wherever your hand reaches most comfortably: on the side, the top, or next to the corner of the playing surface. The instrument measures approx. 11.5 × 7.5 cm and weighs only 400 grams, so it does not affect the cajon's sound or balance.

How do you play it?

Moving your palm or fingers in circles produces a continuous, even shuffle, while short strokes let you highlight individual memorable beats. Alternating the two gives you a varied accompaniment even within a single tune. We happily recommend it to beginners too: there is no wrong movement, the instrument responds to every touch.

Practical details

The cabasa is made in Germany and belongs to the manufacturer's family of cajon add-ons. Thanks to its small size it fits in the pocket of a cajon bag, so you can easily take it to every rehearsal and gig.
