Cajon Brush #1 Matthias Philipzen

Cajon brush pair with rounded nylon rods and rubber-coated protective handle. Nuanced sweeping sound and a warm punch. Length approx. 35.5 cm, made in Germany.

A brush sound that protects your cajon

This brush pair was developed with percussionist Matthias Philipzen. Thanks to the fine, rounded, transparent nylon rods it produces a nuanced sweeping sound and a surprisingly warm, full punch on the cajon. The sound is softer and quieter than playing by hand or with sticks, making it ideal for smaller rooms, acoustic sessions and practising at home.

Rubber-coated handle that also protects the instrument

The rubber-coated handle offers a pleasant, secure grip that does not tire the hand during longer playing. Just as importantly, the design ensures that no metal edges touch the playing surface, so the brush will not scratch or damage your cajon. Your instrument keeps its value in the long run.

When should you reach for brushes?

If you want a quieter sound - for evening practice, smaller audiences or accompanying a singer - brushes are the best choice. They also open up new playing techniques: sweeping and dragging motions bring out tone colours on the cajon that hands alone cannot produce. We happily recommend them to beginners too, as the basics of brush playing are easy to learn.

Size and finish

The brush is approximately 35.5 cm long with a 2.1 cm diameter, and the pair weighs just 0.13 kg. Made in Germany with careful workmanship, built to last.
