The same distinctive, moving line of light, but on larger, fuller beads of roughly 8 mm: on this cat's eye bracelet the play of light shows more vividly and boldly. The bigger beads make a statement, noticeable piece, on a stretch cord with no clasp.
The cat's eye effect
The cat's eye is named for the narrow, moving band of light across its surface — a phenomenon called chatoyancy. Fine, parallel fibres within the stone channel light into a single line that travels as the stone is turned. On the larger 8 mm beads, this band is wider and fuller, so it flashes more vividly.
Tradition
Tradition regards the cat's eye as a stone of protection and watchfulness — a symbol of the "all-seeing eye" said to guard its wearer. These are traditional beliefs; as a piece to wear, it is a beautiful, shimmering companion.
Finish and fit
AA-quality beads of roughly 8 mm on an elastic cord; the bracelet measures about 7.5 cm around. The fuller beads make a statement piece on its own, yet it also layers well with other stone bracelets.
Good to know
The same bracelet is also available in finer 6 mm beads for a more graceful look.
