Small, smooth, tumbled black tourmaline stones in deep black. The little size is ideal as a pocket stone, for craft projects, a crystal set or a jarful of protective stones.
The stone of black tourmaline
Black tourmaline (schorl) is a boron-bearing silicate mineral marked by lengthwise-striated crystals and a glassy lustre; its Mohs hardness is around 7. Tumbling gives its dense, full black a silky sheen. In crystal lore it is known as a stone of protection and grounding, and tradition holds that it helps keep a calm, balanced presence.
The tumbled form and B quality
Tumbled stones gain their smooth surface through long polishing. These small, B-quality pieces show the natural mineral’s variety: shade, sheen and shape can differ, and every stone is unique. Pieces are approximately 0.5–0.8 cm.
Ways to use it
Their small size makes them versatile: carry them in a pocket, set them in a jar or crystal corner, or use them in craft and jewellery projects. Many like to keep one on a desk or near a screen.
Care and good to know
This is a durable mineral, yet it is worth protecting from knocks and scratches. Now and then you can rinse it under lukewarm water and pat it dry with a soft cloth.
